BL&P goal: cut costs

Driving down the cost of electricity to consumers and lowering generating costs for the company are the top priorities for the Barbados Light & Power Company’s (BL&P) new managing director Mark King.
Speaking during a breakfast meeting yesterday at the company’s Garrison, St Michael head office where he was introduced to members of the media, King outlined some of his initial plans for the island’s sole electricity company.
Noting that he was “taking over at a particularly interesting time” in the history of the company, King said BL&P was faced with “significant challenges”, particularly the rising cost of fuel and therefore would be seeking to address that issue “head-on”.
King commenced his role as managing director on November 1. (MM)
