Police have been working with people who offer cash for gold in an attempt to stamp out crime fuelled by the business.
This has been revealed by public relations officer of the Royal?Barbados Police Force (RBPF), Inspector David Welch, who was speaking against the backdrop of seven people being charged for several offences in the Southern Division and in the Bridgetown area.
He said the police had realised that burglaries and robberies were fuelled by the cash for gold advertisements and have been “relentless in our pursuit” of people who commit such crimes.
“So far, we have engaged persons who are involved in the legitimate business of cash for gold and we are working with them to have these businesses regularised,” Welch said.
