GOVERNMENT HAS KNOWN for some time that the unfinished Four Seasons Resort property is being used as an illegal “shopping centre” but could not secure it because it is privately owned.
Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler admitted yesterday that the criminal activity ongoing there was a major concern for him because it was in his St Michael North West constituency, and was also proving to be a huge headache for the police.
“Of course we knew of it from before. It’s very unfortunate and it’s in my constituency, so I have a constituency concern with it because I know people have been going in there doing all kinds of things down in there, and in some instances using that as a staging place for committing crimes on the beach.
“It has really given the police a lot of headaches, but unfortunately as the police are having a challenge, we also have a challenge because Government does not own that property,” he told the SATURDAY SUN in an interview yesterday.
