It took Barbados only two days to complete an easy victory over Windward Islands and assure themselves of a semifinal place in the WICB regional four-day cricket competition.
On a day in which 26 wickets fell at the Queen’s Park Stadium in Grenada, Barbados won by 72 runs on Saturday to complete their preliminary matches with 48 points – and assured of finishing the first stage of the competition in second place.
Windwards, resuming their first innings on 65 for four in reply to Barbados’ 192, were dismissed for 133.
The damage was caused by pacer Javon Searles, who took six for 44 in his first match of the season.
Barbados collapsed for 87 in their second innings after they were undermined by an eight-wicket haul from off-spinner Shane Shillingford.
Set 145 to win, Windwards were shot out for 72 with Searles grabbing five for 39. (HG)
