Tax dodgers will soon find it harder to elude the Government’s revenue collection agencies.
A new Central Revenue Authority (CRA) was launched yesterday to embrace resources of the Customs and Excise, Inland Revenue and Land Tax departments and the Licensing Authority.
The heads of these departments will remain in place but will report to a Commissioner General who will be appointed to manage the authority.
According to Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler, the CRA would help Barbados to maximize its revenue intake, “while closing loopholes and other nefarious exit routes for revenue leakage”. (YB)
