Female farmers and agricultural producers are being given the tools to understand how they fit into the green economy in Barbados.
Executive coordinator of the Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) Shantal Munro-Knight said that the key thing is understanding what the green economy is and how they fit into it.
“Let them know that it is how we use our natural resources in a way that can also aid economic development. It is about changing our practices that we are currently doing. We encourage them to reduce wastage, using manure for their farms, harvesting rainwater and using springs,” Munro-Knight said.
She was speaking at the national Round Table On Rural Women, Agricultural Producers And The Green Economy at the Dining Club in Newton yesterday. The workshop continues today. (LK)
