Three homeless after St Lucy blaze

A fire yesterday destroyed a wooden house at Sutherland Road No. 1, St Lucy, leaving three people homeless.
Jefferson Greaves, who resided there with his four-year-old daughter Keanna, was reported to be attending the funeral of his mother Esme Greaves, who owned the house, when the fire swept through it.
Jefferson, who works at Earl’s Funeral Home, and his family lost everything in the morning  blaze.
Two water tenders, one from the Arch Hall Fire Station and the other from the Weston Station, were sent to put out the fire. They and the eight officers were under the command of Divisional Officer Lloydson Philips. Both the Democratic Labour Party and Barbados Labour Party candidates for St?Lucy Denis Kellman and Peter Phillips, respectively pledged to help the fire victims. (RL)
