Not docked

It appears as if disciplinary action has not been taken against the 30 teachers at Alexandra School who were off the job for more than three weeks last month.
The teachers, who are represented by the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU), received their regular pay yesterday as did all other Government workers. They were paid at the end of January as well.
Despite warnings via letter from the then Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Bruce Alleyne, that they were in danger of having their salaries docked, the teachers were on strike from January 4, the start of the school term, until January 25.
They waited until yesterday to see if the clause in the Public Service Act, The Code of Conduct and Ethics, paragraph 20 (2) would take effect.
