Dentists must meet the minimum standards of the profession in order to protect the public.
This was one of the concerns listed by the president of the Barbados Dental Association Dr Vidya Armogan in order to maintain the integrity of the profession.
He was speaking yesterday at the opening ceremony of the 12th annual Caribbean Dental Programmes Conference at the Savannah Hotel, under the theme Taking Dentistry To The Next Level.
He said the association wanted to ensure that a dentist working on a patient was capable of offering the best in the profession and that it was not someone who failed at some unknown institution.
“That does no good for your country and it does no good for the integrity of the profession,” Armogan said. (LK)
