THE 26th edition of the Banks International Hockey Festival got a grand send-off on Saturday evening at Kensington Oval.
On a thrilling Finals Day, All Stars (men), A Badd Connection (women), Sentry Security Rockets (mixed) and Mount Gay Maple (veterans) captured the silverware.
Maple romped home 5-0 against Queen’s Park Cricket Club of Trinidad and Tobago but the other three champions were made to fight all the way.
Rockets and ABC needed penalty-stroke shoot-outs to defeat Dominion and Old Gold Roosters, respectively, while All Stars saw off Queen’s Park 3-2 in a high-quality showdown that provided a fitting finale to the week.
Team Hoff, the sole team from England, carried away the Mike Owen Spirit Of The Festival award for their bubbly attitude on and off the field. (CC)
