Live healthy, stresses Inniss

THERE?ARE?STILL too many people in Barbados who lead very unhealthy lifestyles.
This complaint came yesterday from Minister of Health Donville Inniss while addressing the opening ceremony of the East Caribbean Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists’ Health Summit 2012 being held at Hilton?Barbados.
Inniss said such people “feel that they can eatand drink whatever they like and don’t exercise, smoke and generally lead a lazy and uncaring lifestyle, with the view that if you get sick the Government will have the nurses, doctors, medicines and equipment to save your life”.
Inniss warned that while health officials would try their best with such people when they became ill, it might not always work out in their favour.
He noted that the fight against chronic non-communicable diseases was an uphill battleand one which was also costing the region in excess of $1 billion annually. (ES)
