Island records second road death

Barbados has recorded its second road fatality for the year.
Dead is 18-year-old Xavier Mansour, 18 years of Blue Waters, Rockley, Christ Church.
According to police public relations officer Inspector David Welch, Mansour was involved in a “serious accident” which occurred about 1:45 a.m. today on Rendezvous Road, near to its junction with Amity Lodge, Christ Church.
The teenager was the driver of one of the two vehicles that were involved in the accident.  He was extricated from his badly damaged vehicle by members of the Barbados Fire Service using the jaws-of-life.
The other vehicle was driven by Franco Diamanti, 45, of Simmons Land, Christ Church.  They were transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulances, where Mansour later died.
Diamanti received a broken right foot, a broken left pelvis, broken left ankle, and a gash to his forehead.  He is currently hospitalized.
The Royal Barbados Police Force has appealed to all road users to exercise greater caution. (PR/NB)
