THEIR goal is to have mothers across the length and breath of the island adopt schools at which they meet and pray once a week for students.Their work appears endless, but these women who gather each week to strategise and pray for our nation’s children are adamant that they will not give up the fight to be praying mums and caring women.They are part of a much larger international organisation known as Mums In Touch, whose local arm was started in Barbados some years ago by Jean Mark.Now known locally as Praying Mums Ministry (PRAMM) this Christian-based Bible-believing organisation, headed by Debbie Buckmaster, is bent on seeing change in the behaviour of children across the island.“We are in the process of writing to all principals so they will know about us and what we hope to achieve through prayer,” explained Buckmaster.To date, there are mothers who meet weekly to pray for one hour, at St Gabriel’s School, where Lisa Stiebel is the prayer coordinator, and Queen’s College, whose prayer sessions are headed by Dr Anne Kissoon-Corbin.Come September, similar prayer teams will be established at Combermere, Harrison College and St Michael’s School.Prayers are often offered up for the moral, social, spiritual and emotional present and future welfare of children and their schools.“Our children are our legacy and the future of this nation,” explained Kissoon-Corbin, an active member of the group.“There is an urgency to pray that our children will be ready when Jesus returns. “PRAMM’s heartbeat is to have every child in every school across the nation covered in prayer.“It is a time to seek God, to win back our children for Him, and build His kingdom here on earth.”With this in mind, PRAMM has organised a time of prayer to coincide with the start of the new school year.Come September 4, mums, grandmothers, aunties, sisters, guardians and female teachers are expected to flock to St Gabriel’s School between 4 p.m and 7 p.m for a special evening of prayer.“We can’t seem to get, moreso hold the interest of mothers, to even get together to pray. The overall goal is to get mothers or concerned teachers and spiritual mothers to pray for a school or schools where their loved ones may be attending, or have attended, and pray for the teachers as well,” Kissoon-Corbin explained.PRAMM’s aim is to place a prayer box at each school, where children and teachers are can place their various prayer requests. “All prayers are treated confidentially,” Kissoon-Corbin added.“We look forward to the cooperation of principals and guidance counsellors to facilitate a place and time in both primary and secondary schools around the island, where we can meet and prayer,” she further stated.When the Sunday Sun team visited PRAMM last week, a group of praying mums, together with Casssandra Bowen of Isaiah 55 Centre, who heads the annual Mums Day Of Prayer Conference, were busy strategising, as they viewed a map of the island to determine where prayer teams needed to be established.
