Dancing in the rain

Not even persistent rains could stop the final Socaholics fete at the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) car park last Saturday.  Although, in light of the inclement weather, the question of whether the show would be postponed had been buzzing around, the party did go on. The true socaholics were in attendance, partying in the pouring rain into the wee hours of Sunday morning.  They were entertained for hours by music from deejays Ras and Kashi, while the bands got ready to perform.  From about 1:30 a.m. until 4.00 a.m. the fans were treated to energetic performances by krosfyah and Soca Kartel.
Soca Kartel, who came on at 2:45 a.m., excited the crowd, and those who had earlier run for cover came out in the open to mash up the place, with many umbrellas moving to the rhythm.  Indeed, it was the perfect ending to Crop-Over 2010, as there were enough showers to cool all the feet that were on fire all season long.  Camille Jacks arguably had the best end to the Crop-Over Festival when she was announced winner of the new fully loaded Chevi Optra car just after 4 a.m.  Jacks, who had entered the competition many times before, could not contain her excitement and expressed relief that she had finally won.by Davandra BABB
