Prime Minister David Thompson’s reshuffle last night was described as “a lost opportunity” to bring new energy and talent into the Cabinet.
Opposition Leader Mia Mottley, in a swift response to Thompson’s address to the nation last night at 7 p.m., empathised with the leader as he battles his illness.
“I understand that his health has forced him to shed some of his ministerial responsibilities, and that his focus must now be on his health and getting better,” she said.
However, Mottley said it was noticeable that during Thompson’s absence from office, his ministers were not able to step up to the plate.
She said too they were not “equal to the task of dealing with the many issues facing the country”.
“We, therefore, do not expect that changing the same people to different portfolios will have different results this time around either,” she added. (CM)
