I REMEMBER WHEN Owen Arthur was trying; when Henry Forde and Billie Miller gave him a chance to lead the Barbados Labour Party (BLP).
He came to office and people supported him. He stumbled at the beginning, but he got coaching for his stammering and made good of himself.
He had ideas and really wanted Barbados and the Caribbean to do well. He did a good job in the first two terms.
Well, as good as any politician can do. But then in the third term something happened.
I thought Miss Mottley was doing all right.
Arthur kept moving her and each time she performed like a loyal servant. She handled the prison crisis admirably.
My question now is: after 14 years running a country, the last five into the ground, alienating civil servants by being rude and arrogant; calling Harold Hoyte a negrocrat; firing Liz Thompson and George Payne; and handing over to Mia Mottley when the BLP lost the last election after a brilliant campaign by the DLP, how dare he come now and insult Bajans intelligence by coming back?
That is my question.
