Tennis and boxing will be without its best medal hopes at this year’s Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Colombia.

This country’s N0.1 Darian King, 26, who represented Barbados at the Rio Olympics in 2016, and played in the opening round of last year’s US Open, is reportedly unavailable for the Games. He competed at the last CAC Games held in Mexico in 2014, but failed to medal.

His Davis Cup partner Haydn Lewis will also be unavailable. Both King and Lewis would also have been strong contenders in the doubles.

The six-foot, four-inch Matthew Foster-Estwick and the improving Xavier Lawrence will seek to earn this country’s first medals at this level.

When the boxing team depart on Saturday morning, it will be minus the much vaunted Jabali Breedy who was injured at a training camp in Washington, where he sustained a stomach injury and is recovering. (MK)
