FIRST LET ME EXPRESS my condolences to the family of the six young women who died in the tragic fire in Tudor Street.
It saddens the whole country.
I must also commend Prime Minister David Thompson who asked the country to take three minutes of silence to pause and pray for the victims as a mark of respect.
In reading the Friday September 10 edition of the Weekend Nation, I felt compelled to respond to the letter written by Ms Cherise McDonald relating to former Prime Minister Owen Arthur’s request for a day of mourning for the victims.
If Ms McDonald is a Christian, as her letter seems to imply, she would put aside politics and see this as a Barbadian who realises the magnitude of this heinous crime, asking for a day of mourning for six innocent victims whose lives were taken by the acts of others.
SLYVIA BURGESS
