There is a rich history and numerous stories surrounding the Barbados Landship.
And the role it has played in the development of culture and as a social institution in the last 150 years is often overshadowed by the energetic and entertaining performances of the various rituals at events.
Author Dr Nancy Fergusson-Jacobs captures the stories and  significance of the Barbados Landship in her book Full Steam Ahead.
Fergusson-Jacobs presented a copy of the work to Prime Minister Freundel Stuart yesterday at the Landship Splash in Queen’s Park, where he unveiled a commemorative monument in the form of a ceremonial stool.
Here, Stuart (left) talking about some of the exciting stories within the pages of Full Steam Ahead with author Fergusson-Jacobs (second left), Margaret Williams and Lord High Admiral Vernon Watson (right).
