UPDATE:Barbados fight back

KINGSTON – A third wicket partnership of 144 between Jonathan Carter and Rashidi Boucher put Barbados in a strong position to take first innings points from Jamaica at tea on the second day of the Regional Four-Day final today.
At the interval, Barbados were cruising at 186 for three in response to Jamaica’s 273 all out.
Jonathan Carter was nearing a century with an unbeaten 92 and was accompanied by Dwayne Smith on 10.
The left-handed Carter and opener Boucher, who struck 52, dominated the post-lunch session as Barbados took control of the encounter at Sabina Park.
Carter has so far faced 164 balls and cracked 10 fours while Boucher’s innings lasted 133 balls and included seven fours.
Boucher, playing in his first match of the season, raised his maiden first class half-century off 127 balls in 195 minutes with seven fours but fell moments later at 174 for two, caught behind off left-arm spinner Nikita Miller. (CMC)
 
KINGSTON – Barbados made a strong fight back against defending champions Jamaica to reach 104 for two in their first innings when rain stopped play, about 50 minutes after lunch on the second day of the Regional Four-Day final at Sabina Park today.
Left-hander Jonathan Carter was unbeaten on 40 and was partnered by rookie opener Rashidi Boucher on 34 as Barbados made good progress from 79 for two at lunch in reply to Jamaica’s first innings total of 273.
The pair has so far added 74 for the second wicket after Barbados slipped to 30 for two courtesy of two strikes from fast bowler Andrew Richardson.
The tall pacer trapped left-hander Omar Phillips lbw off the first ball of the innings and then had Kyle Hope caught at cover by David Bernard Jr for 13, after the right-hander had put on 30 for the second wicket with Boucher.
Earlier, Barbados needed just a quarter-of-an hour to claim the last two Jamaica wickets after the hosts resumed at 266 for eight.
Fast bowlers Tino Best and Javon Searles shared the wickets to fall, as Miller added five to his overnight 29 to finish unbeaten on 34. Left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn (5-90) and tall fast bowler Carlos Brathwaite (3-38) were Barbados’ most successful bowlers. (CMC/EZS)
