I am currently going through a really difficult time and I am not sure what to do or where to turn. My debts are piled high and even managing on a daily basis is proving hard. I have five children to take care of.
Things were going pretty well for us until their father left me. He still gives a level of support but not the same way as before.
My eldest daughter, who is 18, has suggested that I sell our family vehicle so we would be able to handle the mortgage and pay some of our bills. She is currently studying and is hoping to soon get a part-time job.
Christine, I really need some help and I am wondering what you can do to help us.
Along with my daughter my other children range in age from six to 15.

I think your daughter’s suggestion that you sell the vehicle is a sensible one. At times we have to make sacrifices in order to take ourselves out of the rut and move forward. By selling the vehicle you would be able to pay off the bad debt and also allow some to go towards your mortgage.
You may also need to curb your spending and make various cuts where necessary. I will see what can be done to help you for the short term, while you seek to put various cost cutting measures in place. I will solicit the advice of a financial planner to assist you.
