CRUISE?SHIPS?have been given the nod to open their shops and casinos while docked at the Bridgetown Port.
After a lengthy debate the Senate today passed the Cruise Ships (Opening of Facilities) Act 2012.
Apart from opposition senator Santia Bradshaw both government and independent senators gave full support to the Bill with many pointing out that Barbados will benefit from the additional hours which visitors will be allowed to spend on the island.
However only passengers and crew will be allowed to participate in the opening of the ships’ facilities. (MB)
