Three former Barbados Labour Party Cabinet ministers are tipped to get top diplomat posts.
Usually reliable sources told THE NATION that former minister of energy and the environment, Liz Thompson, will be Barbados’ new permanent representative to the United Nations (UN), replacing retired banker Tony Marshall.
Former minister of tourism and international transport Noel “Barney” Lynch will be ambassador to the United States and the Organisation of American States, based in Washington DC, taking over from career diplomat Selwyn Hart.
Former minister of industry, commerce and business development, Reginald Farley, will be appointed as high commissioner to Canada, taking the place of trade unionist Yvonne Walkes.
These three appointments are regarded as strategic rather than jobs for party faithful, as each individual has expertise which Barbados needs for the particular appointment. (SP)
