Teachers first raised concerns about the Education Management Information System (EMIS) more than a year ago.
In a statement to members posted on its Facebook Page, president Sean Spencer took issue with the suggestion that concerns about the system were not known to the Ministry of Education.
“The effectiveness of an Education Management Information System (EMIS) depends upon its sustainability, its ease of accessibility and the efficiency of its operations. It is with this knowledge that the Barbados Union of Teachers voiced its concerns regarding the entering of attendance data in OpenEMIS by way of a press statement on January 6, 2020.
“At that point, the membership was urged to report all challenges pertinent to the use of the Attendance Module of OpenEMIS to the Union via but4@hotmail.com. (AC/PR)
