Public support is essential to the success of the Barbados Football Association’s (BFA) goals for the development of the sport locally.
This was the main message from BFA president Randy Harris during a press conference yesterday morning at the association’s Wildey headquarters to discuss its strides in 2019 and its targets for 2020.
Those goals include the long-discussed plans for extension and renovation at the Wildey Turf, establishing a semi-professional league in the near future, and immediate plans for the restructure of the Premier League.
Harris outlined plans for the facility which, with the support of the public, should take football to the next level.
“We were able to build the Turf with FIFA 2.0 [funds]but going forward we want to have a grand stand and have seating for approximately 6 800 people, so the proposal in FIFA’s lap is about accomplishing another part of that vision,” he said.
