Lynch-Theobalds on INF’s world-class committee

Former standout netballer and umpire Deborah Lynch-Theobalds has been appointed to an International Netball Federation (INF) review committee for a World-class Officiating Programme in a bid to close the gap between the top and lesser teams and officials.

The Barbadian, who became a member of the International Testing Panel (ITP) in the early 1990s, still holds that position after taking a break from 2015 to 2017.

She has been responsible for the training and grooming of many netball umpires from the Caribbean.

“This is a committee where all of the stakeholders in netball will review the current status of the sports, looking at what looks good in the sport and what does not, [whether] umpires are getting enough support and opportunities to develop, and how assistance can be given to close the gap between the top teams which have the advantages of professional leagues and television rights and those less fortunate countries,” said Lynch-Theobalds.
