Bailey wants to regain spot

Barbados’ central defender Ranaldo Bailey is eyeing a return to the senior national football squad.

The 23-year-old Bailey, a former UWI Blackbirds and Pride of Gall Hill player, is in the United States at the University of South Carolina Aiken, where he is completing a degree in applied computer science while playing in the Peach Belt Conference in Division 2. He is eager to suit up for Barbados again after missing out on the Concacaf Nations League qualifiers.

However, with the coronavirus pandemic curtailing sports, Bailey is using the time to recover from an ankle injury which has kept him sidelined for months.

“I really want to come back into the team. I’m thankful that the national team has called me back a couple of times but it was during the season here, so I could not come back,” he told MIDWEEK SPORT during a telephone interview. (AG-B)
