It has been a stressful three weeks for a family whose matriarch was recently diagnosed with a serious illness which required emergency surgery overseas.
Her son said the situation had left them scrambling to find a flight out of Barbados so that his mother could be treated at a specialist centre in the United States.

The man, who preferred not to be identified, related how he spent several days contacting both US and Canadian airlines. (MB)
