The Ministry of Education received 160 tablets on June 18 from Capital Kids Project in honour of broadcaster Veoma Ali.

The devices were provided after benefactor David Csumirik of Amarone Charitable Trust donated $200 000, of which the ministry received $100 000. Additionally, $50 000 has already been pledged to help needy families and another $50 000 to Living Water Community.

Speaking at the Ministry of Education’s Constitution Road, Bridgetown, St Michael offices, Director of Capital Media Vic Fernandes said Ali was a true believer in education and learning and always strived to empower others.

Meanwhile, Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw said the donation would go a long way to reaching their target in the G Suite Tech Drive Project.

Bradshaw noted while they were having some issues in getting devices into the island, corporate Barbados had been generous with donations as the ministry looked toward a blended learning approach. (RA)
