Some people were counting down the days until they were allowed to return to Barbados.
So yesterday, when they finally touched down at the Grantley Adams International Airport for the first time in months, they breathed a sigh of relief.
A woman, who only gave her name as Gina, and did not want to be photographed, had just stepped off British Airways flight 2155 from London, Gatwick, when she said that like most people, her plans to travel frequently had to be changed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“My partner lives here, and we had planned to go quite a few places this year, but I got stuck in England and he got stuck here obviously because of corona. But I’m just glad that I’m back. It feels good to be here,” the middle-aged woman said.
The arrivals came a week after Air Canada flight 966 returned to Barbados, making it the first commercial aircraft to return to the country in months. (TG)
