Victim’s parents to get $50 000

The parents of Ian Gibson, who was bullied to his death by three schoolmates, have agreed to accept compensation.

And by mid-September they should be receiving the first tranche of the $50 000 settlement.

“Not that it is going to replace him [their 11-year-old son] in any way, but given the circumstances of this matter, that is something the court thinks . . . because they wouldn’t have had any compensation from any accident or anything like that, although he was struck by a car.

“And these are things that would have to be taken into consideration,” Justice Randall Worrell said yesterday. (HLE)
