Low water pressure along West Coast

The Barbados Water Authority says customers along Highway 1 from the Lazaretto, St Michael, to Mount Standfast, St James, are likely to experience low pressure over the next few days.

This is due to “technical issues” which affected the Ionics Desalination Plant on Friday.

Reduced pumping from this facility may have a negative effect on water levels in the St Stephen’s and Lodge Hill Reservoirs and the connected distribution networks. This may in turn impact customers in some St James districts who are supplied via these systems.

Once full pumping resumes from the Desalination Plant, water pressure in the systems supplying these areas will gradually improve. The BWA will keep its customers updated about this situation.

In the meantime, the situation is being investigated. (PR/SAT)
