COVID cases inch closer to 260

Four more visitors to the island were diagnosed with COVID-19.

Three of the new cases arrived from Guyana on Caribbean Airlines and returned positive results after undergoing second tests while the other came from the United States.

The visitors from Guyana are a 23-year-old man who arrived on November 14 and tested positive on November 15; a 29-year-old woman who arrived on November 6 and tested positive on November 10; and a seven-year-old girl who also arrived on November 6 and tested positive on November 10.

The male visitor from the United States is a contact of a known case and he was diagnosed with the viral illness on November 18. All of the visitors were asymptomatic.

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 338 tests yesterday.

Meanwhile, no one will be released from isolation today and 11 people remain in isolation. The number of confirmed cases now stands at 259, comprising 136 females and 123 males. There were 241 recoveries and seven deaths.

The laboratory completed 44 484 tests to date. (BGIS)
