Allegations of theft from senior citizens landed Diana Rosemary Clarke in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

And after the prosecution objected to her bail, she was remanded to HMP Dodds for 28 days.

The 44-year-old vendor, of Scarborough, Christ Church, denied stealing two cheques and $450 belonging to Michael Borman on March 19. She also pleaded not guilty to stealing a cell phone, worth $400, belonging to Kemar Best on March 15.

Clarke, however, did not plead to stealing $250 belonging to Johannes Thomas and stealing $175, which belonged to Mavis Fenty, both on February 25 this year. Those charges were in the District “F” Belleplaine’s jurisdiction. Prosecutor Station Sergeant Cameron Gibbons objected to the accused’s release. He said the complainants were elderly people who must be protected from Clarke and that she had outstanding matters before the court.

She will appear in the District “F” Court on April 20 and will reappear in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court on April 27. (HLE)
