Billboards, vaccination health fairs and a new website, all designed to limit the spread of the coronavirus, are being considered by the COVID-19 Communications Unit.

So says Liz Thompson, Barbados’ departing United Nations (UN) Ambassador who until recently was the face of the unit, hosting the COVID-19 press briefings.

She told the Saturday Sun in New York that these were among key initiatives being examined to reach a mass audience with information about the importance of the protocols, vaccinations and other health messages.

“We are having discussions about billboards and I would like to see vaccination (health) fairs particularly to target young people,” said Thompson, who will assume duties as Barbados’ special diplomatic envoy for climate change, small island developing states (SIDS) and the law of sea. (TB)
