Two more vaccination centres on the cards

There are five satellite sites where the National Vaccination Programme is being offered, and co-coordinator Major David Clarke says two more are to come on stream shortly.

“The polyclinics are not designed for mass vaccination programmes, and I am trying to create centres that people get a better quality experience going to a site that caters more for mass vaccinations. There are no secret sites. There are sites I have created, and people get an appointment to go to the site,” he said.

Reports reaching the DAILY NATION indicated that while the process has been relatively smooth at the satellite locations, the polyclinics continued to be inundated with large crowds.

Clarke said they were trying to have 64 000 people vaccinated with their second shot of AstraZeneca by May 29. However, over the last few weeks, WhatsApp messages had been circulating encouraging people to visit polyclinics where the vaccine was being offered, without appointments. (RA)
