The best is yet to come! That statement holds true for teenage squash sensation Meagan Best who continues to create impressions off the court that match her impressive game on court.

After being selected as the flag bearer for Barbados at the recent Commonwealth Games in Australia, the St Michael school student has been nominated as a world squash ambassador for the Pan American region taking part in the Youth Olympics slated for Buenos Aires, Argentina, October 7 to 12.

A thrilled president of the Barbados Squash Association, Allison Smith-Padmore, was full of praise for Best and squash in breaking the news of the prestigious nomination.

“This nomination follows our association’s continuous bid to attract more youth to our sport. Meagan’s achievements on court and off of the court will blaze a trail for local squash where we want to continue excelling at the international level and which we expect will climax with a medal or medals when squash becomes a full competitive sport at the Olympics,” stated Smith-Padmore.

Best will be one of six girls from the Pan Am region and one of 18 girls selected from the entire world. Squash will be a showcase sport in the Youth Olympics with the sport seeking to be added to the 2024 Olympics. (KB)
