BHF hoping to host festival

Despite being a month behind on improvements to their Wildey base, the Barbados Hockey Federation (BHF) is optimistic they can host their annual Hockey Festival in August, once COVID-19 protocols permit play.

Those improvements include the repair of the AstroTurf, the erection of floodlights and the construction of the long-awaited pavilion on the eastern side of the facility.

The delays, caused by lock downs, ash fall in April and the passage of Hurricane Elsa earlier this month, have not dimmed the hopes of the BHF, who still expect to host their flagship competition in just under a month’s time.

Speaking to NATIONSPORT regarding their latest developments, secretary of the BHF Kofi Hinds confirmed: “We were able to make good progress with making the pitch ready again and we hope to have it in playing condition for the Festival in August.” (NM)
