12 more added to COVID-19 cases

Twelve new COVID-19 cases, five males and seven females, were identified by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The facility conducted 1 350 tests on Friday, August 20 and there are 138 people in isolation.

Barbados recorded 4 640 cases of the virus (2 264 females and 2 376 males) since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 and there were 48 deaths.

Tests carried out by the laboratory reached 247 193.

Public health officials administered 101 983 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine under the National Vaccination Programme, while 89 683 people received second doses.

Those who are fully vaccinated represent 33.1 per cent of the population. (BGIS)
