The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is closely monitoring the progress of an area of low pressure located near 11N 42W or about 1900km (1180miles) east of Barbados at 2 p.m.

This system is not a depression or tropical storm and there are no watches or warnings in effect for the country.

The area of disturbed weather remains disorganised on satellite imagery. However, some slow development of this system is possible as it moves generally west-northwest or northwest at 10 to 15 mph over the next few days.

Although current model guidance shows some deviation in the track of the system over the next few days, it is still expected that regardless of development, it will track well north of Barbados, posing no direct threat to the island.

Members of the public are advised to stay alert for updates issued by the BMS on this system over the next few days.

The next update will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, or sooner if conditions warrant. (PR/SAT)
