The Immunisation Unit is warning members of the public that the sale and purchase of the blue vaccination cards, which are issued to people who have been vaccinated, is illegal.
Co-coordinator of the National Vaccination Programme, Major David Clarke, said the Royal Barbados Police Force is aware of the activity where the cards are being sold for as much as $200 a piece.
He pointed out that this practice was strictly prohibited and anyone caught selling the cards would be prosecuted.
Major Clarke emphasised that the blue cards were not only free, but should be issued by a certified health care professional to individuals who have been vaccinated.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Wellness has advised the public that it is currently in the planning stage of the Home Quarantine and Home Isolation phase of the COVID-19 response.
The appropriate notification, guidelines and public education will be issued by the Ministry before the start of this phase.
Members of the public have not yet been given permission to quarantine or isolate at home, except in special cases of disability or disease, which would have to be authorised by the Chief Medical Officer. (BGIS)
