Former AG Sir Maurice King dies

Former attorney general, Sir Maurice King died on Tuesday. He was 85.

Sir Maurice served as attorney general from 1986 to 1989 under the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) administration.

He was also Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and International Business from 1989 to 1993.

Sir Maurice also served as Barbados’ permanent representative to the United Nations in the late 1970s, as well as legal counsel for the DLP.

He was educated at Harrison College and graduated from University of Manchester in 1960 and was called to the bar the same year.

He was knighted 12 years ago.

Sir Maurice was survived by his two children, Adrian and Stephanie.
