The Nation Group has begun its planned restructuring process involving three of its companies: Nation Corporation, Nation Publishing Co. Limited and Starcom Network. This has impacted 24 employees at every level of the three organisations and across multiple departments.

CEO of the Nation Group, Anthony Shaw stated: “The restructuring involves a full redesign of the organisational structure and consolidation of departments across the group, as well as increased utilisation of technology in key workflows and processes.

“We would like to thank all employees who will be leaving the organisation for their valued contribution. It is of course always difficult to part ways with staff; however, it is essential that the company reorganise its operations, to succeed in the prevailing economic environment, which has affected many businesses in Barbados. Every effort has been made to minimise the impact on our people, in consultation with the Barbados Workers Union.”

Key changes that form part of the restructuring exercise include; moving towards a single newsroom for the effective delivery of news and content across the print, radio and digital channels of the Group and related widespread training for staff.  The streamlining exercise will also result in the eventual closure of the Nation Classified Office at Sheraton Mall.

It is expected that most of the major changes will come into effect by the end of May 2018. (PR)
