GEORGETOWN, Guyana – Police say a 58-year-old housewife died after she was attacked by a swarm of bees on Thursday evening.

They said an autopsy on Dorothy Adams from Ratter Dam East Bank Berbice (EBB) was expected to be done on Friday after she was pronounced dead at the New Amsterdam Public hospital.

Her husband, Vishnu Persaud, is reported to have also been stung when he tried to rescue her.

Meanwhile, 57-year-old John Sutherland, is reported to have died after being attacked by bees in Eversham Village, Corentyne, in another incident also on Thursday.

Media reports said that Sutherland was in the company of two farmers when they were attacked.

But while the two farmers escaped, Sutherland, who had a physical disability, was unable to evade the bees and was later found dead, with stings all about his body. (CMC)
