786 new virus cases

There were 786 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases (362 males and 424 females) recorded on Monday, January 31, from the 2 954 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The new positives consisted of 157 people under the age of 18, and 629 who were 18 years and older.

The number of people in isolation facilities was 177, while 10 710 were in home isolation.

A 69-year-old unvaccinated woman died on Monday, at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility.  As at January 31, a total of 281 people had died from the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 539 980 tests since February 2020, and recorded 45 216 COVID-19 cases (20 969 males and 24 247 females).

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 158 705 (69.5 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 147 190 (54.3 per cent of the total population or 64.4 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
