Government’s proposal to relocate its Oistins, Christ Church beach front offices to a nearby area, and transform the seaside area for tourism development, is still on the cards.

However, although some residents are not against a hotel or another tourism-related facility being constructed in the area where the Oistins Police Station, post office, Randall Phillips Polyclinic and bus depot are located, they want to ensure that fellow residents will benefit.

Long-time resident Alexandria Welch-Kellman told the Daily Nation that she attended town hall meetings to discuss the plans to redevelop the area several years ago.

She addressed her concerns then and said they were still the same.

“That project could be good from the standpoint that it would bring more visitors and economic activity to Oistins, but we want to make sure residents can really benefit and are not disadvantaged.” (TG)
