Barbadian Nathan Crawford-Wallis finished sixth in the men’s triple jump at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday.

He produced a personal best 16.11 metres on the third round to jump from ninth to fifth at the time, after posting 15.69 in the opening round.

Crawford-Wallis had foul trouble, spoiling the second, fourth and fifth attempts.

He had to settle for sixth behind Jamaican Jordon Scott who also had 16.11m, the latter’s second best jump of 16.04 on the final round gave him the edge, after he also fouled in the second, fourth and fifth rounds.

India dominated the event with three of the top four finishers.

Eldhose Paul won the gold with a wind-aided 17.03 from compatriot Abdulla Aboobacker Narangolintevid who did a legal 17.02. Praveen Chithravel was fourth with 16.89, while Bermuda’s Jah-Nhai Perinchief took the bronze with 16.92m.

Kaiwan Culmer of The Bahamas was seventh with 16.04, Trinidad and Tobago’s Kelsey Daniel was ninth with 15.95 and Taeco O’Garro of Antigua and Barbuda 11th with 15.68. (SAT)
