Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) president Conde Riley has accused Kensington Oval Management Inc. (KOMI) of multiple breaches of the lease agreement between the two parties.
The latest, he charges, stems from KOMI’s failure to provide a window of opportunity to facilitate smooth maintenance of the ground during major cricket tournaments.
It comes against the background that a non-cricket event, which involved the erection of a big tent on the outfield, was held at Kensington on Wednesday, a day after the start of Cricket West Indies’ regional Super50 Cup.
The BCA boss also charged that KOMI had failed to pay the BCA rent to the tune of $13 million dating back nine years, has not provided audited financial statements, has not provided proof that the facility is insured and has made alterations to the venue without permission.
“There are several breaches of the deed of lease. It is a deed of lease signed in May 2009. They have breached almost every provision of the lease that they are responsible for,” Riley told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday. (HG)
