No BSSAC drums decision

THE DRUMS are still being considered, but will they actually beat again?

During yesterday’s launch of the Powerade Barbados Secondary Schools Athletics Championships (BSSAC) at the Coleridge and Parry School, chairman Orson Alleyne said that the decision on whether or not the drums will return to BSSAC is still on the table.

“I must admit there has been constant calls and we have had the committee of the Barbados Association of Principals of Public Secondary Schools (BAPPSS) reviewing it. I also said earlier last year and year before, some of the concerns with respect to the music had to dowith the security and so on.

“I can’t say if they are still as eminent as they were before, but certainly as soon as the final decision has been made we will alert the general public on what to expect in coming to the [National] Stadium from [March] 6 to 9 and the 15 and 16. Once we do the review some decision will be made,” he said.

Alleyne noted that with the work being undertaken by the stakeholders, everyone attending the championship can feel a sense of safety while at the Stadium. He added that there has also been an emergency plan put in place in case there is an emergency.  (RG)
