Primary school sports powerhouses Bayley’s are packing serious athletic power again this year.

Propelled by the fleet-footed victrix ludorum Aneele Trotman, Under-11 Boys’ champion Amari Hadaway and speedy Makai Clarke, Red House dethroned Yellow on Friday at Bayley’s sports at their Merricks, St Philip school ground.

In a thrilling title race before passionate spectators, Red triumphed with 454 points, just eight more than last year’s winners Yellow (446). Green (289) and Blue (260) finished third and fourth, respectively.

Trotman won the Under-13 Girls’ 200, 400, Open 600 and cross country, and was second in the 100 and long jump to end with 36 points.

Hadaway triumphed in the 100 and 200 metres and long jump, while Clarke was the Under-13 Boys’ champion with 25 points. Clarke prevailed in the 100, 200 and long jump and was second in the 400 and 800 metres.

Bayley’s successful cricket captain and star fast bowler Shaquan Belle of Yellow House was the victor ludorum.

While Clarke was the divisional champion, Belle, who won the 400 metres and cricket ball throw, gained more points (35) overall after taking the Open 800 and cross country. He was also second in the 200 metres, third in the long jump and fourth in 100.

Blue’s Zyerie Kellman, who won the 80, 100, 150 and cricket ball throw, and Yellow’s Jadacia Andrews, who captured the 80 and 150, were the Under-9 Boys’ and Girls’ champions with 31 and 22 points, respectively.

Yellow’s Gabrielle Thorne, with wins in the 100, 200 and 400, was the Under-11 Girls’ queen with 28 points. (EZS)
